Walruses, also known as Odobenus rosmarus, are marine mammals like seals which are generally found in the Arctic sea. There are two subspecies of this species, Atlantic walrus(Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus) and Pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens). They can be further divided into male and female walruses, both genders have long elongate tusks that hang downwards. With a round head and small eyes and quill-like whiskers, their skin is one to to inches thick. Orcas and polar bears are their only natural predators. Walruses are social animals, who move in herds, which are in turn separated by sex. Walrus can move both on land and under the water and their body temperatures are regulated automatically at par with the environment. The weight of a walrus pup at birth is 130 lb (60 kg).
