The large polyp stony (LPS), also known as or tongue coral (Herpolitha limax) and slipper coral, is a type of coral belonging to the Fungiidae family, genus Herpolitha. This coral species is known for its elongated, tongue-like shape and numerous spiny tentacles which gives it its hairy appearance. This medium-sized coral is mainly found in Indo-Pacific waters, among coral reef slopes and lagoons with good lighting. They can also be kept as amateurs as pets because they are very easy to take care of and can benefit a marine environment tank greatly.
